This customer bought their Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTI to us, they explained their needs to us and determind that they wanted a performance remap carrying out. As always before we carry out any remap we always do a diagnostic check to see if there are any fault codes stored in the ECU. We then read the ECU with our software and obtain the software and hardware numbers from the ECU and then a custom written file made to the customers requirements is made. This customer had chosen a performance map. Once the file is written we then write it onto the ECU and carry out a further diagnostic check to make sure that the new software has no fault codes in and then we road test the car making sure that there are no flat spots or any problems with the map and also checking that the clutch does not slip with the added power and torque. As this Vauxhall Astra had a power map we can go more in detail about the difference the customer will feel when driving. The car itself will have a lot more low down power and torque and the turbo lag throughout the rev range will be heavily reduced. The driveability of the car will have changed completely and the customer will be able to drive the car in higher gears alot more without having to change down to go up hills and even when over taking. Some people do say that after having their car remapped it is like driving a new car to them and they have to change their driving style to adapt to their remap.

Performance wise the car was 150bhp and 320nm of torque after a performance remap it has taken it to 186bhp and 380nm of torque as you can see from the figures its a big change but the main thing that has changed is how the car drives on the road.
